Before the federal election, Justin Trudeau made fairly lavish promises around arts and culture. He said a Liberal government would double annual federal funding to the Canada Council of the Arts from $180 million to $360 million. The Liberals also declared that the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation would get a $150-million annual boost and $25 million would go to Telefilm Canada and the National Film Board.
