Mass Media Commission established to support freedom of expression

The members of the Mass Media Commission were introduced during a press conference the other day.

Speaking during the press conference, media advisor and spokesperson of the Ministry of Information and Culture, Haroon Hakimi said that the commission was established based on the verdict 16, article 64 of the Afghanistan’s constitution, amendment of article 42 and 43, and supplement of article 44, with 7 members picked up, considering their professionalism, work experience in journalism field and gender, aiming to monitor financial resources and activities of the media outlets as well as issuing licenses to them. Meanwhile head of the commission, Khpelwak Sapai said that the commission is independent and the main goal is to support freedom of speech and the rights of journalists.
