Powerful film and television industry bodies including Screen Australia, Foxtel and Screen Producers Australia will work towards policies promoting safer workplaces in the wake of growing sexual harassment scandals here and overseas.
A groundbreaking industry forum to be held in Sydney next month will discuss strategies such as teaching “ethical bystanders” who witness sexual harassment or intimidation in the screen sector how to report it. The forum also will discuss a sexual harassment code of ethics for the screen industry — which doesn’t have one — and possible penalties for breaching that code.
