The Americas Cultural Summit 2019 will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 27-29 June 2019, hosted by the Secretary of Culture of the Nation, Argentina in partnership with the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA). It will take place alongside the Creative Industries Market of Argentina (MICA) and will begin with a day retreat at Villa Ocampo – including a meeting of the Americas Chapter – exclusive to National Members of the Federation.
The Americas Cultural Summit will bring together senior government authorities, public funding bodies, institutions and practitioners from the arts and culture sector across the region to continue conversations started at the inaugural Americas Cultural Summit held in Ottawa, Canada in May 2018. The programme will explore the theme of Cultural Change in a Diverse Territory, focussing on the profound changes that continue to affect cultural models and practices. Delegates will analyse and reflect on these changes and participate in a collective dialogue to identify traditional paradigms that are no longer fit for purpose, as well as how they can build new cultural management models to complement those that already exist.
On Friday 28 June, the programme will comprise a full day of public sessions, open to all. The programme for Saturday 29 June comprises a series of workshops which are by invitation only. The working languages of Americas Cultural Summit will be English and Spanish.
