 National Gallery of Australia  Leading National Institution  Canberra based The Australian Government is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Director to lead the National Gallery of Australia. The National Gallery of Australia fosters the vision to meet the cultural needs of the people of Australia as their national art gallery through the quality of the collection, the excellence of the exhibitions and programs, and the professionalism of their staff. The Gallery facilitates understanding and enjoyment of the visual arts, through exhibitions, education programs and its significant collection. The Gallery aims to provide access to and information about works of art, locally, nationally and internationally. The Director is responsible for the management of the Gallery consistent with the strategic policies of the Council and will realise the vision of the Gallery through the achievement of the goals set by the Gallery Council and staff. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding management and innovative leadership ability, and have excellent communication skills. Knowledge of the collections sector and ability to operate in the public sector are important.
