Argentina and Paraguay discussed cultural industries in Encarnación

The meeting was attended by the National Director of Cultural Industries, Natalia Calcagno.

On 20 February, the National Director of Cultural Industries of the Ministry of Culture, Natalia Calcagno, participated in the Meeting of the Argentina-Paraguay Movement for the Promotion of Culture in the Shared Region (ARPA) 2015, in Encarnación, Paraguay. The meeting brought together a significant number of managers in the region to discuss and work on the relevance of creative industries in both countries.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Culture (National Secretariat for Culture) of Paraguay, Mabel Causarano; Argentina's ambassador in Paraguay, Ana Maria Corradi; the Governor for Itapúa , Luis Gneiting, and the Mayor of Encarnación, Joel Maidana.

"For there to be genuine integration that will endure, it must be culturally. If we produce culture together, we make roots that are there to stay, " Calcagno said.

Argentina and Paraguay have been working together in areas such as the Cultural Industries Market SOUTH (MICSUR), regional MICA in Argentina and the next edition of Cultural Industries Market of Paraguay (MICPY), scheduled for 2015.

The ARPA builds on the memorandum of agreement signed by authorities of the two countries in June 2007 in order to promote and carry out a formalf cultural integration between Argentina and Paraguay in the field of cultural management and production.

With this first meeting the goal is to reactivate and strengthen the shared territory of cultural exchange, in order to associate the ARPA terriority as a space of circulation of goods and services between the two countries. At the same time, it seeks to promote the movement of trade and establish general guidelines for action and consensus between departmental and provincial governments.
