The Territory Government’s $100 million Indigenous Arts Trail vision continues to progress this week with the launch of a new website that will explain and promote the project locally, nationally and internationally.

The $100 million Indigenous Arts Trail will create hundreds of local construction and ongoing jobs and attract more visitors to the NT.

Assistant Minister for the Iconic National Indigenous Art Gallery, Chansey Paech said the Indigenous Arts Trail website brings all the projects associated with the $100 million Arts Trail vision, including major arts and cultural infrastructure projects, together in one place.

“The Arts Trail will develop the Territory into the premier destination to experience Australian Aboriginal arts and culture. It will be a huge tourism asset, which is progressing well. At the heart of this is the Iconic National Indigenous Art Gallery in Alice Springs,” Mr Paech said.

“We are an open and transparent government and the Arts Trail website will provide the community with a one-stop shop for this major piece of tourism infrastructure. Community will also be able to comment on other arts and culture projects including the Ten-Year Museum Masterplan and the Museum of the NT.”

Community members will be able to learn more about major projects and provide feedback. As consultation opportunities come online, they will be updated and housed on this website, making them easier for the general public to find.

Mr Paech said the Indigenous Arts Trail is of interest to many stakeholders locally, nationally and internationally, including the Territory community and other art institutions.

“The website will be a valuable resource for regional and remote galleries, art centres, museums, libraries and keeping places. Through this website these institutions can apply for Arts Trail Regional Stimulus Grants and access program information to assist them to enhance their facilities so they can attract more visitors, such as the Arts Trail Gallery Extension Program.

“It’s a very exciting project and I encourage everyone to keep up to date with these significant projects by viewing this new website,” he said.
