The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth today began implementing a capacity-building programme in the field of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage.
The programme is carried out by experts from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Arab League Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ALECSO). More than 30 young men and women interested in this field are taking part in the five-day programme.
The programme stems from the Sultanate of Oman’s efforts to activate UNESCO’s 2003 Convention on Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage and an Arab Strategy to this effect undertaken by ALECSO.
